IMPORTANT - Water Maintenance

Just in case you thought otherwise, the Officers and Committee of the Association are NOT solely responsible for carrying out maintenance of our waters.  If your favourite water is getting overgrown or is filling in with water plant growth DON'T COMPLAIN to the nearest Officer or Committee member, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT YOURSELF if you are able to.  Your membership fee entitles you to fish on Association waters.  This fee is used to pay for the water rents and the cost of administrating the club.  Volunteers do any maintenance that we do for free.  If you DO COMPLAIN, you will NOT get a very sympathetic hearing!

Now that you understand how it is, you will want to know how you can help keep our waters maintained in the way YOU would like to see them.  All of our maintenance activity is managed and co-ordinated by our Water Maintenance Manager.  We keep a register of willing volunteers who are contacted to undertake planned work.  Please register YOUR interest in this important activity by contacting the Water Maintenance Manager, Fred Clews on 01323 846127 .  Working parties will be arranged as necessary during evenings mid-week and on Saturdays and Sundays.  Planned dates and venues for 2010 will be published in a newsletter and on this website (see below).

Maintenance activity is often restricted by the terms of our agreements for the fishing rights. Accordingly, water maintenance is only to be conducted following sanction by the Water Maintenance Manager.  Individual members are expressly forbidden to carry out work without prior consultation with the Water Maintenance Manager.  The Water Maintenance Manager and the Committee will plan and supervise maintenance work.  Where sufficient resources can not be reliably assembled from members, then the necessary manpower may be contracted in at the expense of the Association.
