Welcome to Southdown Angling Association's website. We are the result of a merger between the Compleat Angler Fishing Club and Hailsham Angling Association in 1997, when we formed the Southdown Angling Association. Please have a good look around the site, either the written links, those at the head of the page or the buttons at the left should take you where you want to go. The site is full of information about our waters, matches, rules and regulations, and lots more is being added. The Association Calendar has several sections. Look here for details of Water Maintenance days, and how you can help; Competition details, HMFC Flying dates, Water Closures and Meetings are also here. The Association Annual General Meeting for 2010 took place at The Junction Tavern, Polegate on Monday 11th January at 8:00 p.m. Details of matters that were discussed are in the Spring newsletter, Arrangements for waters. Some arrangements fall due for renewal part way through the season and it may be that some waters are not retained by desire or for reasons beyond our control. Equally, additional waters may be acquired during the season if beneficial to the Association. All Association waters with the exception of the stillwaters are subject to the annual close season from 14th March to 15th June. Please don't forget that you'll need a rod licence. You can obtain one at a Post Office or online. Click on this link to go to the appropriate page of the Environment Agency website where you can obtain your licence online from the comfort of your computer chair (It is comfortable I hope!). Follow this link for all Membership details, we welcome new members, especially the young and have reduced fees for under 18's and only a purely nominal fee for under 14's. There are details here of our agents where you may also join, and an application form for postal use. Each Members gets a Yearbook as proof of their Membership. It has a great deal of information and we reproduce most of it here. Please note that any frequently changeable information is now on a separate Year Book card which carries your membership number (and key numbers for locked waters). The News pages give reports of local fishing stories as well as competition results. Many stories are accompanied by photographs - why not submit yours? Here is the Spring 2010 Newsletter with the results of the 2009-10 season. The Picture Gallery will show you, and your catches. Several shots appear here or on the Reports pages. The webmaster can accept digital images by email or can scan photographs, slides or negatives. See here for how to submit your best shots. The Waters pages give details of all of the Association waters, and include maps and directions. The fish pages give some background information on the species that you'll catch in our waters, read about their preferences, habits and habitats. The Tackle pages will give some useful data, and perhaps some ideas. These pages are ideal if you have a 'pet' rig that you'd like to let others know about or a 'magic' bait that you're prepared to reveal! The Links page gathers together some useful Angling website links that you may like to follow. Don't forget to come back!
